Me and my brother in law were kicking back Friday night having a fire with some beer and we got to talking. I really wished I was more aware in my teens and saved up cash. I had a high paying job for 4 year, easily making $17 an hour. If I had saved even half of that money I would have had so much more in my 20's and struggled a lot less.

Same thing as you. I wish I would have saved. There was just so much I wished I had done differently not even to be BETTER but to just be ahead and stable. Ah well, I am heading into my 40's now, a bit late to open the books and go back now.

I would tell myself to spend more time with family.  You can’t relive the good times once they’ve passed.  Pause and enjoy those times.  Your kids will never ride a bike for the first time again.  There are so many small things that add up over time.  You can’t bring those days back and at some point you’ll wish it was possible.  Live out those days to the fullest and enjoy every second of them.

I wish I knew how important it is to take care of yourself.  I drank too much beer and ate way too many cheeseburgers.  You could say I lived on cheeseburgers and beer at one time.  I always did my drinking at home and most of my cheeseburger eating away from the house.  Fast food seemed like a good option when it was lunchtime at work.

I would tell the younger me to enjoy my youth.  Life gets pretty stressful when you’ve got a wife and kid.  I’d so go ride your bike and enjoy feeling the wind in your hair.  Just enjoy everything that being young has to offer.  Before you know it you’ll be changing diapers and being woke up in the middle of the night.

I can tell you that these are the best years of your life.  Enjoy every smile and whimper from your child.  You’ll never get the chance to hear them laugh as a child again.  Changing diapers may not be all that much fun.  Sitting around alone as an old man is much less fun.

I wish I took better care of my teeth. I spent a good 5 years where I just didn't care about my oral health. I became lazy and just slacked. I didn't brush daily, sometimes I would go a full week before I did. My breath never smelled bad so I didn't see the point. I do now.

I’d tell myself to go to college or a trade school.  It’s far more difficult getting a job when you don’t have any sort of training.  I’m hopeful roofing works out for me.  It’s better than the other jobs I’ve had as far as pay is concerned.
