Typically, one experience roofer can cover 2 square per hour. This varies on material used and weather conditions.

My grandpa used to brag to me that he could put up 4 square an hour, rain or shine, cold or heat, and in any wind. But I don't think I believe him haha. He was always telling crazy stories about remodeling homes so I could never tell what's true or not.

Well yes it said it all depends on your speed and your work experience while you're working in different condition. I manage 1.5 sq. an hour but it all depends on working environment.

When working with a few people, a whole roof can be done quite fast. I did one with my brother in law, just me and him, and I think we got about 2 sg per hour.

My best day I installed 35sq....3500 sqft in 7 hours with just a laborer placing flipped stacks ahead of me. It was a 6/12 with no details.

I am comfortably sitting at 0 till spring! LOL I haven't done a job yet but it seems like the average is 2 to 3 an hour.

You guys are fast.  You’re like a human roofing machine.  How long did it takes you to be able to do it so quickly?  That’s a skill I’d like to learn!

I can install 2 square an hr of comp. (200square ft) but that would be on a 3/12 to a 6/12 pitch.... stepper is a little slower because safety first. Metal between me and my crew we installed 80 square in an 8 hr day... those were also 38 foot panels and 3 of us working on it

It's a tough question because there are a lot of variables

Pitch of Roof
Laborer tossing shingles or not
valleys
drip edge
pipes
chimneys
4 nail or 6 nail
Standard or metric shingles
etc. etc.

Depending on the type, I would say 1 to 2 square per hour.
