I got a roofing job and now I start on Monday.  I’d like to thank all of you that gave me advice.  I’m really exited to start my new job.  Do any of you have pointers on what I should do or shouldn’t do on my first day?  I’ve never had a job like this before.

Way to go!  It’ll feel good getting a paycheck once again.  My advice is to listen to what everyone tells you.  Don’t think they’re trying to be a jerk.  I thought guys were giving me the run around when I first started roofing.  I learned later they were teaching me how to do things the right way.  The wrong way always leads to more work for both you and your coworkers.

My advice is to not fall off the roof.  That’s the first and most important thing.   Always find a good napping place the first you lay eyes on a job site.  It’ll take you awhile to get the hang of it.  Before long you’ll be snoring away and no one will be able to find you.

Just stay calm and try not to get in the way.  Being too eager to do a good job can put unnecessary stress on everyone.  Let the job come to you and listen to what people tell you.

Thanks guys for being really supportive.  I’m going to tell you all how it went in another thread.  I’ve put in two days of hard labor and now I’m feeling it.

I already responded to some of your other posts. I hope everything works out for you. Just take it one day at a time, and always be learning.

I can’t believe I’ve already been doing this for a little over a week now.  I really didn’t think I was going to last more than a few days.  I’m getting more and more used to it as the time goes on.  Thank you for your encouragement.  It’s really what I needed today.
