This video shows how to repair a split rafter. Very easy to do with the proper tools.

I can’t say I’ve ever done this before.  I think this would be a fun job to do though.  I like how he put the glue on it then used the clamps.

You can use screws or nails, but screws do a better job pulling the boards tighter together. This will bind and spread the adhesive and keep a tight bond making it easier on the screws. When you do this you are creating a solid board.

I have tried this method before and it does work quite well. Screws are definitely the way to go, they will give it a tighter bond like you said. A lot of good information in this video.

Interesting video, great method, thanks for sharing it. There are a few different ways this can be done. I don't see this way as being the worst.
