Looking to get one for my basement. I googled online and it says $2,500+ but someone told me $800 so I am at a loss.

You would have to get local estimates. A lot of cost comes down to how many men work on the site and the style and age of your home. There is a good chance it may be a lot cheaper than what google says because they take the average.

Google says $2400-$4000 for an average one. I would suggest doing what Dale said and stick to locals. Get like 3 or 4 estimates and go with the cheapest one.

I think installing egress windows can be one of the best choices. But if you haven't installed it till yet, then you must think that there are many other alternatives available, like my cousin sister has replaced the windows of her house and installed impact windows. She was praising about the windows because she saved her house from hurricane once. Apart from resisting hurricane this window has many benefits.

Yeah there are other options out there but do your research and get what you need. Never settle for something that is out of your range either.
