This is a similar situation to arriving at a party that you don't know anyone. The natural instinct is to think this is a big group of friends having an awesome time and everyone is engaged so you really have no one to strike up a conversation with. Once you look past the surface you realize there are a bunch of pairwise and disjoint conversations and probably most people aren't friends. In your situation it may seem intimidating to try to engage with a group of 15 people and fit in but if you focus on individual 1:1 interactions you will eventually find people in the group you more naturally get along with. Don't mind the 10 year age gap, that is an arbitrary distinction because at the end of the day you are in the same field and have some things in common to talk about.
That was the long answer, here is the short one. Do amazing work, impress the hell out of them and then they will be impressed and want to get to know you.
